Article Latest post PublicOld Monkey Getting closer! I'm guessing this weighs at least 64lbs at this point. The hollow armature in the middle has really helped it not weigh too much. I used probably 32 blocks of clay and have more to go. We built out the wooden base more for the feet and Marina recommended we remove the arm and head to rearrange and the new head position and pose looks better. Next time I will work on the gesture more and fine tune some stuff and then power through to see what I can get done in 2 more weeks.

He is holding looking up and to the side with a raised eyebrow while tilted the opposite way for 15 minutes at a time. This is a really fun portrait. I'd add details about what I did more but I was spaced out tonight and sort of on autopilot. Worked on symmetry. Article May 19 Public 0 0View 0 comments Fantasy painting update

Locked Article 1mo ago $1 tier & up 0 0Belvedere torso value study Just a quick update. One more day on this one and then I will start a larger version. I think I'll run out of time for a slow fully rendered academic style. So the big version will be me doing my best to stick to that but also me just trusting my intuition and doing the best at accepting it won't be "perfect". I used a Nero charcoal pencil and a "perfection pencil" to get the really dark black and some blending effects. I included a close up of some textures I like. Just had 3 hours for this quick pose of the model Ava who I've drawn a bunch of times. She had a really good gesture and I wish I'd had more time but the whole point was to sculpt as much as possible in only 3 hours. My body is sore and a bit tired from boxing and agility training this morning and I haven't done life figure sculpting in about 3 weeks so I was slow. But it was fun and I learned a lot. I need to memorize the 7 and 1/2 head chart from book Paul Richer book. I'll check out hid Female Morphology anatomy book as well and work on general pelvis/leg studies. Also, I got to teach the main melody to Raspberry Beret on the piano in the sculpture hall du Article 5 days ago at May 10 crawl Public 0 0Welcome/Bienvenidos Just saw there are new people here so wanted to say welcome and thanks! So I had to make some major adjustments on the Old Monkey/Belvedere torso study. Added more dynamic rotation to his core and had to adjust the arm and shoulder as a result. Also, realized his head was positioned in the wrong spot. I knew this would be complicated but it is on another level for me; in a good way π€ trying to get all the energy flows and movement makes me feel like I'm being tossed around by a huge wave. Next week I will construct the base more with wood covered in clay to get the wave shapes and also provide stability. I will also work on a small study to problem solve. Marina recommended the small study and I trust her sculpting advice. Article 5 days ago at May 10 crawl Public 0 0
