Hello creature designers, On Friday, 5/22, we had a fun live sketch session where I showed how to invent anatomy on the fly while trying to figure out a weird looking creature. Sometimes, these creatures we think up are incredibly weird and there would be no way they could actually move. Or could they? Even when anatomy seems too complex, just remember that if the overall silhouette is compelling, add tendons, muscles, and ligaments underneath the skin by putting in small and large bumps at the joints. it makes it look like the bones are functioning under the skin. Good evening! This week, we looked at the very first thing to do if you were to start a creature/character project on your own. Knowing how to actually begin prior to drawing will set you up for success because we get so darn excited, we just want to start drawing immediately. We think to ourselves "Yeaaaaaaah but do I REALLY need to look that up on Google?" Or..."Meh, I'll just draw something cool. I can fix it later" Sound familiar? Yeah, we've all done that. This week we also looked at super helpful tips for facial construction. Tiny secrets for jaw muscles, lips, teeth, and overall head shape. Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week, I showed some more sketches in my sketchbook. I have these things stacked by my desk and as I peered through them, I noticed the library of doodles and crazy stuff I never even posted publicly. For Tier:2, I gave a lesson on posing your creature. This particular lesson was just a starting point as I could make ten more about posing. Let's keep things simple for now. There are common problems with "stiffness" in our creatures such as stiff neck, hands and feet looking weird and pointed in the same direction, stiff torso, etc. Basically, creature drawings looking like there's no movement anywhere. Out next Tier:3 live sessions Article May 5 $3 tier & up 0 0Sunday Recap: May 3rd Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week, I showed some more sketches in my sketchbook.
