You'd be hard pressed, I think, to find anyone who doesn't subscribe to this idea, consciously or unconsciously. But defining "cool" or "boring" is with any degree of objectivity has been a struggle. One could say that "boring" means expected or conventional, but our conventions and expectations are based on our experiences. A seasoned reader will find a retreading of Hero's Journey rote, but a new one may be enchanted.
