Aug 20, 2019 View post Not like we need another obsession here at BIGDoer.com, but it’s happened. Great…just great. And it’s well known history buff Johnnie Bachusky we blame. If not for him bringing up the subject of water towers recently while chatting, the seed would have never been planted. Sure, we noticed these structures before while on out on adventures, and even photographed a few, but we didn’t pay them a great deal of mind overall. I guess we were preoccupied with other things. But since that fateful day not long, we think of them a lot and search them out religiously. Funny how that happens.

Alberta Ghost Town Convention (GTC) 2018 Day 1Aug 19, 2019 View post One weekend every July for the last few years, a group of close friends gets together and explores the countryside in search of historic places. It’s always an epic adventure, taking in abandoned farms, charming villages, near ghost towns and vintage vehicles long put out to pasture. But truth be told it’s as much about the comradery as it is the things seen. Still, we get to photograph some amazing stuff. Each time it’s a different base of operations and 2018 finds us in an area around Drumheller and Starland County. There’s avocado coloured appliances, rock and brick work, marble, brass and all things satin, velvet and plush. And to end all, there’s a sunken tub in the living room. It’s unapologetically outrageous and makes no claims of sophistication. Although not looking terribly mansion like in appearance or size from certain exterior angles, it’s something huge and glorious, each and every room decorated in a most over the top way.
