All you have to do is check the box "Export in background" near the bottom of the Print Window . This is great if you want to drop a progress plot, but it depends on the power and stability of your machine. I found that with Bluebeam addon and a large model, it gets bogged down while exporting, so this feature ends up not getting used very much. Also, when I'm ready to send out PDFs, I'm usually done for the session, so no further work should really be happening. Besides, while exporting PDFs, its a great time to get up and stretch!
