As another night descended upon the city of Vancouver, Edmonton's Valley of Despair vibrated the historic Cobalt to life and warmed the crowd up for the local vocal powerhouse that is Ophelia Falling. The midpoint brought us Ottawa's Lycanthro for the third time at this festival which might make them the reigning champs of performing at Hyperspace. Then came the Pit Viper clad power metalers The Scepter (also from Ottawa) to build us up for the grand finale: Edge of Paradise from Los Angeles, a band I missed on my first 70k cruise but did manage to catch their frontwoman Margarita Monet at the All-star Jam...
To access this whole post, joi Article April 30 Hyperspace Metal Festival 2026 - Day One On the first of three nights, we visited The Cobalt for a hangout with five talented metal bands of varying genres. Up first were Vancouver's Kayas, followed by the deathy islanders Ravensun. Suit-clad Hyperstrike (Seattle) rounded out the middle of the show followed up by Bellingham melodeath quartet Inpathos. Finishing off the night (and figuratively destroying The Cobalt) was the incredibly tight unit Atavistia (Vancouver melodeath)... I'm still setting up my new office in a new location, but I was able to make it out for the final day of this fine festival and capture the seven bands who graced the Rickshaw stage...
