After 2 years and 7 months of trying to get answers, I received an email this morning from Constable Detective Mike Stephens with the Peterborough Police Department. He stated that ultimately, his department decided to use familial genealogy to determine the identity of the Peterborough John Doe. They were able to track down the family of the victim and the remains do not belong to Dale Kerstetter. There will probably be a press release incoming on the identity of the victim.
