He now visits several treatment centers every month to do writing workshops and concerts. Since he began this work only a few years ago, he has written over 50 songs and performed them to offer hope and healing to people affected by the disease. Ian joined forces with Sylvia Fricker to form the renowned 1960s folk duo Ian and Sylvia. The two later married. Ian wrote their classic songs Four Strong Winds and Someday Soon, the latter of which was also recorded by Judy Collins. After Ian and Sylvia split up in 1975 Ian moved to a ranch in southern Alberta to train horses. With the albums Old Corrals and Sagebrush and Cowboyography, Ian Tyson found a true calling writing songs about the ranching life.
