Slow Server Response due to AI crawl robotsSorry to all for how slow PaintRef.com has become. Over the last 6 months we have had to take some drastic steps to throttle the 4X increase in traffic due to AI (artificial intelligence) companies targeting our web site. We have tried to do this without affecting real human site visitors, but some of our actions have affected those as well. And we have a lot more to scan and post. Due to having more time and a document scanner with automatic character recognition, we have been entering code cross-reference and fleet paint information like the one shown above. In the past it took one year to get one historic publication list into the database. Now it can be done in a few hours. There are 662 special edition Mustangs by year in the book. From 1964 to 2018. It took over a year to write and many site visitors contributed photos and information. PPG even gave us permission to use some of the paint chip and supplemental bulletin pages we used to identify many models.
