£6/moMezzoABRSM Discovering Music Theory Grades 1, 2 & 3 provide a foundation of understanding, explaining the fundamental principles of the structure of music and harmony. The information builds accumulatively, each grade building upon the previous grade. The topics learned in grades 1 - 3 underpin the next level of learning at Grades 4 - 5.
£10/moMoltoABRSM Discovering Music Theory Grades 4 & 5 build on the information covered in Grades 1 - 3. Topics now expand into a wider look into more complex harmonies and scale patterns. Aspects of orchestral instruments and their various idiosyncrasies are also discussed. In these grades, using the knowledge we have gained, we are now called to dig a little deeper into the topic of music theory.
£20/moMaestroIn this tier you have access to ask me up to two questions each month, regardless of what level you are studying. We all learn in different ways and it may be that you require some individualised answers as you come across questions in your studies. In Grades 6, 7 & 8 the format of learning changes and we now get thoroughly engrossed in the topic ofmore complex harmony, the rules of four part harmony and aspects of composition. We look at the compositional styles of Baroque, Classical and Romantic music and we analyse orchestral scores of many different styles. In many of the composition exercises there are many opportunities for different answers - providing the required formulas are observed.
