Well done to each of you. I'm grateful (like, really, deeply grateful) to get to be in community with each of you. Your work inspires me every single session, and this one has been no exception.

[7in7 | Session 8] Day 6June 28 View post Hello all, and happy Sunday! It's the next to the last day of Session 8! You've all been amazing this week. Truly. It's been such a gift to me personally to see some of our folks who weren't able to participate in the last session or two for various reasons make their way back to the community. As we push through to the finish line, here's a prompt to work with today: write a song in a key and with a chord progression that is less comfortable or familiar. Don't just capo differently. Play differently. As the king of consistently writing in one or two different keys playing one or two different chord progressions, I need to be challenged in this way.ArticleJune 28Public 0 10[7in7 | Session 8] Day 5June 27 View post Morning, friends! It's DAY FIVE, and the end of the week is very much in sight. Three more tunes? Easy. Whether you've written 4 hits already this week or haven't picked up a pen to write once, you can definitely knock out three measly songs over the next three days. Actually, don't even think about that yet. It's just today. One song. Maybe one hour of your time. Maybe less. You can knock out a tune today. I belieeeve. Here's a prompt for you if you like: today, write about a scar (physical, emotional, yours, someone else's, whatever). As always, the prompt is both optional and wide open to interpretation. I'm excited to her what each of you writesArticleJune 27Public 0 13[7in7 | Session 8] Day 4As I say every Day 4: we've officially made it halfway through another session.ArticleJune 26Public 0 7[7in7 | Session 8] Day 3June 25 View post Hello friends! It's crazy to me how every time I pick out dates for 7in7, life seems to bottle neck into those selected days to make it feel basically impossible to stick with the challenge. Every. Single. Time. But, alas. Here we are at Day 3! My hope for each of you is that this has already proven to be, and will continue being a true delight. I love, love, love listening to your tunes. Truly. Today's prompt, for this interested, is this: Write a song from the perspective of your future self (5 years, 50 years, your choice). I look forward to diving in and to enjoying your creativity today! Good luck! LBArticleJune 25Public 0 13[7in7] Session 8 - Day 2I hope you're feeling good about your writing yesterday! If not, or if you didn't even get to start yesterday, worry not: it's a whole new day. You can start now! The goal, as ever, is not perfection. It's just about setting some time aside to be creative, and seeing that creativity through to an end. It doesn't even have to be the end. You can always revisit whatever you come up with later on. For now, just give yourself some space to make something imperfect.Imageyesterday at Aug 22 crawlPublic 0 31[7in7] Session 8 - Day 1June 23ArticleJune 23Public 0 41T-Minus 1 Day!!REMINDER: Only ONE MORE DAY till 7in7 Session 8! The final day of our SEVENTH session together.Articletoday at Aug 22 crawlPublic 0 2[7in7] Session 7 - Day 6March 20 View post Hello friends! Who's ready for more? Two days / two tunes to go. Let's make 'em count! If you've been following along all week, but haven't written or shared yet, don't be shy! You can still jump in for a day or two. There's no such thing as too late. A prompt to grease the proverbial wheels today: write a song about Spring / seasons changing. Spring is always such an interesting season of transition, even for those of us who live in places where winters aren't harsh. Maybe because summers are, who knows? I'm eager to hear what you come up with! We're getting very, very close! Good luck, friends. LukeArticleMarch 20Public 0 3[7in7] Session 7 | Day 5March 19 View post It's all downhill from here, friends! I'll be honest: I've already completed more songs this week than I expected to. May as well finish strong, right? You've got this. We've got this. As always, I'm so impressed by each of you, and I learn so much from you all every time we do this. Thank you for that. Today's prompt may invite a little more vulnerability than other prompts we've had. Today's prompt is to write a song asking for help. Why? I don't know. That's just what I came up with I was prepping these prompts a couple weeks back. I'll trust that I had a good reason for it at the time! Good luck, friends! Have fun writing! More tomorrow!
