This series of posts will detail the six year journey of the extensive conservation, restoration and modifications of the historic 3.5" gauge Raven A2 which I have dubbed "Polaris". This locomotive was built with fittings and castings from Bassett-Lowke as a gift for Francke C. Elliot, the lawyer of the White Pass and Yukon Railroad, employed by the law firm Close Brothers in London. I found this locomotive abused, neglected and covered in about five coats of impossible-to-get-off paint in a private collection in 2020. Article April 28 Public 0 1Crossheads for the Thames cutter, work in progress shots Continuing to work with the man who has generously decided to donate his time with solid modeling and machining(!!!) these parts for the engine modifications, now we are onto the crossheads and their complex fixed and moveable wedge slipper systems for full adjustability.
