Connecting Johnny to ShinobuFebruary 17 View post Shinobu Sakamoto was born in 1956 in Minamata, Japan. Her birth came right after the official discovery of Minamata disease (May 1, 1956.) Her mother didn't know that the fish was poisoned with mercury from the chemical company Chisso located in the town. The mercury entered Shinobu through her mother's placenta. When Johnny and Shinobu met, Shinobu asked if possible could Johnny come to Minamata. Johnny replied, "Oh yes. I would love it. It’s very important." When I told Jonny that she has been spreading the world about Minamata since age fifteen, he said, "I am deeply impressed and amazed by her fortitude."ArticleFebruary 17Public 0 0Preventing a second Fukushima: Our lawsuit is heading to a verdict.Nov 18, 2025 View post On November 13th, our lawsuit to stop the Ohi nuclear power plant is now headed to a verdict at the Osaka Appellate Court. Ohi was the first reactor to restart after the Fukushima 2011 accident. This photo was taken on December 4, 2020 when we won our case at the Osaka District Court. On this day, the court revoked the government’s license for the Ohi No. 3 and No.4 reactors operated by Kansai Electric Power. We had argued that the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) had underestimated the potential magnitude of an earthquake the plant might encounter.ArticleNov 18, 2025Public 0 0COP-6 Minamata Convention (Geneva)I was interviewed by the COP-6 media group when I went there on behalf of the Minamata Photographers' Eye Project.
