He'll be animated with simple movements like South Park or Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I didn't think his original design was BAD GUY enough, so I bulked him up a little. In this opening scene we get a music number from Sunshine before he abruptly encounters DARK OLIVER'S ship, packs his packs and leaves town. The music here is (obviously) placeholder of me playing a voice memo on my iPhone. The music will be fully realized in the final version. He has a big TV monitor where he can observe the status of the big, hungry monsters he sends to VALLEY FALLS. I'm really happy with the artwork for the monitor, which is clearly inspired by the Tiger handheld games of the early 90s. Remember those? Kids today have Fortnite. We had Tiger handhelds... man were those stupid. But we were happy nonetheless. I also took inspiration from He-Man, Thundercats, and Ninja Turtles cartoons to design this interior. Pretty much every bad guy in the 80s and 90s had a similar style interior for their bad guy lair. Just a big old wall of wacky technology full of levers and buttons and dials. VALLEY FALLS, the fictional place where JON E. and NANNERS reside, is a mish-mash of three places; Los Angeles with it's grit, grime and endless strip malls, Tokyo's infinite skyline (perfect for big hungry monsters to smash), and Marble Falls, Texas... the small town where I grew up. And a green screen! And some other stuff! One of the most important aspects of creating this show has been acquiring the gear I need to pull it off. Many of the major components are in my possession now, and I'm learning how to use them to create the look and feel of Food Force 5000. Next I need a few more props, and some costumes for Jon E. 5000 and Dark Oliver, but after that we're getting close to go time. Here in this video I give you a glimpse into how the show will come together by using some concept art to demonstrate the main camera angles featured during cooking sequences.
