$10/moSponsor RexHiddenMeet Rex! Rex was our very first rescue in 2020...by accident! His previous person dropped him off at our sanctuary after Rex started attacking people. For about two months, Rex lived by himself in his coop since we hadn't rescued any other chickens at that point. He would spend his days free roaming around the property, peeking through windows, coming into the house to spend time with us, and purposefully finding our bedroom window to crow at in the morning. He's was a character then, and still is! When we rescued our 5 girls from a hoarding case that was being handled by another sanctuary, Rex became their fierce protector, ruler of the roost, and loving companion to our 5 girls. Unfortunately his fierce loyalty to them made it harder for us to enter his coop and enclosure, and made free roaming a continuous battle of trying to get work done while looking over our shoulder for the next sneak attack. Let me tell you, a roosters talons to the shin and butt really hurt! But that was just Rex. Over the last couple of years as more chickens have entered his flock and neighboring enclosures, Rex has calmed down and we've learned so much about him! He will avoid conflict with another chicken, he does not like new people at all, he absolutely hates work boots being worn around him, and he has a sweet side. We still have to enter his enclosure with some sort of shin guard for our own protection, but usually he just keeps a watchful eye while we go about our business and he goes abou
$10/moSponsor SaltHiddenSalt came in with four other friends in 2020 who were all part of a hoarding situation. We don't know anything about her past, but we know that her future is safe and she will forever be loved. Salt came in very shy and reserved, and was missing her tail feathers and Thankfully her feathers have grown back completely and they are much more comfortable. Salt can be found socializing with the other flock members, foraging for yummy treats, and sun bathing on a nice day. She has a strong material instinct and often tries to lay on everyone's eggs. We're so happy with how far they've come and will be there for every step of their future.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$10/moSponsor WinterHiddenWinter and Lo came in together from animal control in late 2021 and fit into Captains flock right away! Winter is a calm, sweet mother-like figure to her flock and always stays out of trouble. She loves being outside despite the weather, which is partially why she got her name Winter! She is a happy girl who doesn’t cause trouble and we’re grateful for her calm nature.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$10/moSponsor LoHiddenLo and Winter came in together from animal control in late 2021 and have become such a huge part of Captains flock. Lo is a little trouble maker who demands to be seen, and will try to trip you when going into her enclosure. She hates wild birds and runs around chasing them away from anything that she seems possession of! Beside her usual shenanigans, Lo loves her flock and is easy going with all of her flock members which is something that doesn’t happen often with feisty hens. We’re so grateful to be able to care for her and see her entertaining antics every day.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$10/moSponsor AprilHiddenMeet April! April came to us from an animal control facility in 2022 and is the sweetest little game hen. APril grew very close with Hazel and Summer so we formed a third flock to accommodate their needs. They all get along so well, and April is the adventure seeker and will go off on her own to forage and see what’s new in the world, always coming back to her loved ones to check in.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$10/moSponsor RaisinHiddenRaisin came to us from Animal control in 2021 and was an instant sweetheart. She has made her way between different flocks because she’s docile and gets picked on so we’ve been trying to find the perfect, and safest fit for this sweet girl. Raisin in the first one to the fence when she hears my voice and loves to jump in my lap or onto my should when I kneel down for her. Raisin is curious and inquisitive and the sweetest girl to everyone she meets.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$15/moSponsor SummerHiddenSummer was found wounded and wandering around an apartment complex in 2021 at just 4 weeks old when a good samaritan picked him up and asked a neighborhood group what to do. Our lovely board member Jess jumped right in and helped arrange this little guys safe trip to our sanctuary. After an emergency vet visit to get him proper medical care, he was on the road to recovery! Summer is now almost a year old and is a big spunky boy! Summer is a Cornish Cross breed which are commonly used for meat consumption. They are bred to grow quite literally bigger than their legs can carry them and are killed between 6-8 weeks old. Because of this breeding, Summer must be kept on a monitored diet with plenty of exercise and healthy foods! We're so happy he's in our lives and grateful to provide a safe life for him!Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$15/moSponsor BellHiddenBelle was adopted as a feral from the shelter in 2021 and has blossomed into a sweet little barn kitty who follows us around demanding attention. It took Bell the better part of a year to really warm up to us and she really started to come around when we rescued Duncan and our sheep family. I think she truly felt safe and saw how we interacted with the larger animals and decided that we might be okay for humans. We love Belle are we’re so happy she decided to stick around. She has a heated bed for the winter, quality food, water and a cheerful greeting every time we come into the barn.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.

$20/moSponsor SageHiddenSage came in with Duncan and her 2 sheep friends in 2022, and is approximately 3 years old! When we arranged transport for this family, we knew Sage was pregnant and started preparing for the arrival of her baby. We were surprised when she gave birth to two babies! Rosemary and Basil were born into sanctuary on February 27th and we are so happy that they will never be separated and continue to grow as a family. Sage is a very caring mother, but is also an individual herself who is sweet and docile, and loves to come up to sniff everything she possibly can, as long as you respect her personal space.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$20/moSponsor MellowHiddenMellow was rescued with her 2 sheep friends and Duncan in 2022. Mellow is the first one in line for snacks and feedings, and will literally plow past you to get to more snacks. When Mellow came in we had a suspicion that she may be pregnant due to her not being separated from Teddy during her stay with her previous person. We waited and prepared, but we weren’t expecting to come home one day to two more lambs! Coco and Sugar were born to Mellow on March 16th and needed some assistance bonding with Mellow. They all got a large stall to from a lasting family bond together and today they are inseparable and get along with the rest of the herd as well!Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$20/moSponsor DuncanHiddenDuncan came to us with his 3 sheep friends in 2022. When he came to our sanctuary, he was not neutered and hormonal, and had a ring in his nose to prevent him from "causing destruction" which is sadly standard practice in animal agriculture. We were so thrilled that we were able to find a compassionate vet who saw Duncan as an individual and didn't hesitate to take out that nose ring during his neuter surgery. Duncan was rooting away in no time and it was such a joy to see him able to discover his new found powerful nose that no long hurt when he touched things. We don't know what fate held for Duncan before we rescued him, but today he's living his best life and will be able to live his full life without oppression or exploitation. Duncan is the perfect mix of bossy and sweet, heavy on the sweet. He loves giving his favorite humans kisses, and will always push his carrots and brussel sprouts to the side of his food dish so he can eat his apples first. He's always ready to get some scratches and loves playing chase around the pasture. We have loved seeing him grow into his personality and be able to gain his full trust and learn his likes and dislikes. Duncan has touched so many hearts already, and we love that he's such an advocate for how sweet large breed pigs can beFreedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$20/moSponsor HopeHiddenHope was found by a compassionate person on the side of a freeway in 2022. She had jumped off a transport truck probably heading to a grower barn where the intention was to fatten her up to be killed, or breed her and have the cycle repeated. We’re so incredibly grateful for compassionate people. Along with the person who found Hope, several people from our vets office stepped up to help miss Hope. From the tech who took her home for the weekend to monitor her, to our friend who transported her to us, to the vet himself to ensured that Hope would make it, it truly took a team for this little girl. Hope was estimated to be about 1.5-2 weeks old when she was found, and although we’ll never know where her parents or siblings are or how they ended up, we are so grateful that Hope will be able to live out her life with us away from oppression and exploitation.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$20/moSponsor DottieHiddenDottie has a beautiful rescue story. She was initially saved from slaughter as a piglet by a family who loved her dearly. She lived inside with them and enjoyed the good life! Dottie is a Duroc breed (like our Duncan) and grew very quickly to be over 400lbs! Because of this, a new home was needed for her where she could have the space she needed. @chicagolandpigrescue stepped in to help, but after some time, a home was found by Dotties family.A month later, CPR was called by Indiana Humane Society about a neglect case where a large pig was living without suitable shelter in negative degree weather... that pig was Dottie, and CPR immediately rushed in to help.Dottie was then transported to a local sanctuary where she would be temporarily fostered until a home was found.Since the first day we heard about this case in November, we couldn't stop thinking about her for some reason. We always take every consideration before bringing on a new permanent resident, and Dottie was no different. In November, we decided it wasn't the right time due to many factors. December came, and our situation was the same. Then January came, we were getting more supporters and created a solid plan to officially bring her into our Freedom Run family, and we are so glad we were able to!Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$25/moSponsor TeddyHiddenMeet Teddy! He came to us as a compassionate surrender with his two sheep ladies and pig friend Duncan in 2022. He's approximately 8 years old and we were told he used to belong to a petting zoo and was used for breeding before his previous person took him in. When we went to pick him up he was so skittish and extremely difficult to get into the van to bring him home. The same was true when we finally reached home, he was skittish and wanted nothing to do with us. We spent every day with him over the course of a week, meeting him on his terms and just reassuring him that everything was okay. Although there's still a lot of trust to build, he's finally letting his guard down enough for us to shear him, clean his eyes, and give him little nose pets! We're overjoyed that he's allowing us to get so close to him, and we're looking forward to building a stronger bond as time goes on.Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$25/moSponsor Rosemary & BasilHiddenRosemary and Basil were born into freedom at our sanctuary on February 27th to Sage and have made strides into trusting us and getting to know the world around them. Rosemary was born 10 minutes before Basil and took it upon herself to be mature and a mamas girl. Basil is a bit more curious and branches out to explore things in the barn and pasture. Together with Sage, they have a strong family bond and are inseparable form eachother. Rosemary and Basil have also bonded with Coco and Sugar and are usually found playing and running amuck through the barn!Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
$25/moSponsor Coco & SugarHiddenCoco and Sugar were born to Mellow at our sanctuary on March 16th and are still very shy and learning how to trust. They have formed a great bond with Rosemary and Basil and constantly play and run together! They also like to stay by their mom for her security and comfort. We’re hoping as time goes on they’ll become more open to us and we will start seeing more of their personalities shine through!Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 non profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
