$1/moHelping The MojoTo me, this level is just as significant as the others – it's a deliberate choice to help support my work and my goals, and I am very, very grateful. All Patrons pledging at least $1 per month will be given access to my Patreon-exclusive posts and updates about the progress of all of my new Words & Pictures.
$5/moWords & Pictures – the PDFAll Patrons pledging at least $5 per month will have access to my Patreon-exclusive content, as well as receive the bimonthly PDF of Words & Pictures. This level is the lifeblood of this effort. I hope that you enjoy the work I am going to share with you, and I am very grateful for your support.
$10/moWords & Pictures – the print edition AND the PDFThis level of support is why I decided to create this Patreon, and give my best readers, supporters, and fans the opportunity to help bring some beautiful books into being, while helping to support my ongoing work. All Patrons pledging at least $10 per month will have access to the exclusive content, and (once the respective goals have been reached) will also receive both the bimonthly PDF of Words & Pictures via email, and the same issue, finely-printed and bound as a limited-edition chapbook, mailed to your home. That's the initial reward: the longer-term reward will be in seeing the new publications that the work in these issues helped shape, for which I will be extremely, and most humbly, grateful.

Oct 3, 2025 View post Post-high school, I was, for the better part of a year, the on-staff political cartoonist for a local paper, the Silver Creek Herald. The best one I did in those days involved a police lineup and a bunch of cookie-baking grandmas (who got in trouble for taking refreshments out to work crews made up of incarcerated guys.) Some years later, an old friend hit me up about doing one for the then-contentious issue of the two immediately local communities consolidating. (Taylor & Snowlake, who already share a lot of municipal services, like schools.) It was a pretty solid way to present the POV of those who were in favor of it, and made a fun

OVER THE EDGE: one last bonus picThis one is not a cartoon, but an homage. This is Proginoskes, from Madeline L’Engel’s book, A WIND IN THE DOOR. Literary dragons count, too. :)ImageSep 26, 2025Public 0 0OVER THE EDGE: Bonus DrawingAs Autumn - and Halloween - are fast approaching, I wanted to add one bonus drawing from the Dragon Knight Art Editions: Bug-A-Boo, from my dear friend Jill Thompson’s brilliant Scary Godmother books.ImageSep 19, 2025Public 0 1OVER THE EDGE: Preamble - Part VIIThis one was an inside joke: the Knight is based on my good pal Tracy Mangum; the Dragon is based on one of the dinosaur hosts of The Claymation Christmas Special; the pose is a riff on Tracy’s biggest contribution to global culture: the Food Face, where you point at the food you’re about to eat with an expression of amazement and delight. 😃ImageSep 12, 2025Public 0 0OVER THE EDGE: Preamble - Part VIThis bonus Far Side-influenced cartoon was done for a good friend, Jeff Cox - the (now retired) brilliant printer who produced the DRAGON KNIGHT hardcovers, my Meditations Trilogy hardcovers, my All The Colors Of Magic coloring books, and more. For context, the local legend Pete’s Fish and Chips was just down the street from Cox Printing. Also, it’s clear that Tummeler the Badger lends himself well to cartoons - it’s his second appearance!ImageSep 5, 2025Public 0 1OVER THE EDGE: Preamble - Part VThe third of the FAR SIDE-homage cartoons I did as one of the illustrations in the DRAGON KNIGHT special editions was a lot more James than Gary. I liked the one-panel format, and it’s a fun way to tell an Imaginarium Geographica-themed joke. That combination turned out to be more inspiring than I had expected. 😃ImageAug 29, 2025Public 0 0OVER THE EDGE: Preamble - Part IVOnce I had done one Far Side homage, it was really easy to do another one. :) This one leaned more heavily into Imaginarium Geographica lore, and may also be the only drawing in history to depict The Tolkiens as Gary Larson characters. 😄ImageAug 22, 2025Public 0 1OVER THE EDGE: Preamble - Part IIIAug 15, 2025ImageAug 15, 2025$1 tier & up 0 0OVER THE EDGE: Preamble – Part IIDoing the Opus Dragon for Mia (previous post) showed me two things: one, I could do a pretty decent Berke Breathed, that was both in my own style, and a respectful homage to his brilliant lines; and two, it was a lot of fun making it thematically-connected to the Imaginarium Geographica books. So, I wondered how I could follow up an homage to BLOOM COUNTY, and the only real answer was clear: the next cartoon had to be based on Bill Watterson's amazing CALVIN & HOBBES.ImageAug 8, 2025Public 0 2OVER THE EDGE: Preamble – Part IAug 2, 2025ImageAug 2, 2025Public 0 1The New WorldLook for these to start around Valentine’s Day.
