Reading and Talking about photography will only get you so far, but in my own learning process what did me the most good was rolling up my sleeves and doing a mix of observing and assisting the people making what I aspired to make. Whether you're more of a fly-on-the-wall learner or want to help out holding lights, it's fine with me. After the shoot, we'll hang out for some Q&A about the shoot to help cement the things you learned and get you ready to take on your next shoot with confidence.
