Well, I found another improper anchor in the canyons in North Wash and thought I'd share this experience and discuss the proper way a single strand of webbing should be tied up onto an object in a loop fashion. Thanks for watching.ArticleSep 4, 2023Public 0 0Using a Girth Hitch Anchor in CanyoneeringAug 5, 2023 View post We recieved a request for a video to do about the Girth Hitch that we modified in our Merry Piglet "Directors Cut" video. We were happy to oblige and talk about the tying and use of the knot and why we make adjustments in the canyon when we see the girth hitch improperly deployed. You always want to be thinking about mitigating the forces that could break your system in the canyons and by properly aligning the knot in the girth hitch you can take away a huge amount of pressure that is usually applied to this knot when it is deployed. Deaths have occured in canyons in the past becuase of this practice and one reason that Canyoneers generally practice rigging releasable as their primary rigging set up. This video was taken by Ryan, one of the students and we are appreciative of him giving it to us. We have a full lenght tutorial on our channel also outlining how this technique is setup that you can view here: https://youtu.be/ys-AxMvMxv0ArticleJun 12, 2023Public 0 0
