Some Thoughts on Memory and WritingI’ve been thinking lately about how much my relationship with writing has changed over time. Early on, a lot of what I wrote came from exploration more than certainty. I was learning things about myself in real time through the music. Trying to understand the world around me, trying to understand where I fit into it, trying to make sense of experiences while they were still happening. A lot of those older songs were discoveries as much as they were statements. Even now, I still think searching is a huge part of the process for me creatively. I never want to feel like I already know exactly what I’m going to make before I start. Some of the best ideas arrive incomplete or unclear at first. OvArticleMay 22Public 0 0
