Can a human be generated? If your entire life was recorded and fed into the machine, could it generate "you"? The entire premise of AI bots is this: collect data → feed data → black box → generate new output With capable technology, I think LLMs could generate something very similar to you. So if it sounds like you, looks like you, texts like you, is that you? I don't think so, because this reduces individuals to data and people are not a collection of parts. Everything we are is contingent of the present; of that moment in space and time. Feeding perceivable behavior into a black box strips it of those conditions and treats it as static material rather than someone's lived experience. At a baseline, someone’s digitaArticleJanuary 13Members 0 0

Of Portals : Drafts from my notebookHello Patrons! With Halloween approaching, I’ve been thinking a lot about portals. A lot of traditional cultures around the world believed that this time of the year, the veil between this world and the “other world” is thin. The validity of these beliefs can be quite subjective but the “veil” aspect has me thinking a lot about portals. Specifically interfaces as portals and portals as a way to control our realities.
