£4/moThe Desert Rats - The Winston ClubDuring the formal opening of the "Winston" Club, in Berlin, for the 7th Armoured Division, by Winston Churchill, his speech contained the following words;
"Soldiers of the 7th Armoured Division. I am delighted to be able to open this Club and I shall always consider it a great honour that it should be named after me. It is not without emotion that I can express to you what I feel about the Desert Rats.
Dear Desert Rats! May your glory ever shine! May your laurels never fade! May the memory of this glorious pilgrimage of war which you have made from Alamein, via the Baltic to Berlin never die!

The division was created on 17 June 1941 from elements of the elite and prestigious Guards units; the Grenadier Guards, The Coldstream Guards, The Irish Guards, The Welsh Guards, the Scots Guards and the Household Cavalry.
Naturally, the Guards Armoured division bring elegance to what would otherwise be an ugly brawl.

On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. These became known as Anzacs and the pride they took in that name continues to this day.
Having served extensively with Australian officers and soldiers I can confirm first hand the men and women of the ADF are among the best you will find on this planet.
