Article Latest postPublicThe Dread Archmage's Last StandSep 4, 2023 View post My intention with this encounter is to have a bit of a twist to the usual Phylactery lich mindset. Often the creature is defeated and then whisked away to the phylactery to recuperate in safety. In this combat I wanted the phylactery to be front and center not only to draw attention away from the lich but to create a secondary objective where destroying it actually makes the combat easier so the players have to decide if they should focus fire or take on different tasks during the combat.
