Monthly Update #16 (September/October 2021)Jul 18, 2022ArticleJul 18, 2022Public 0 0Part 1 of the storyI’m (eventually) going to follow up Part 1 of the story with a longer post about the process of transforming the boisterous soapbox of the debut into a quieter, more intimate durational work, what I was hoping to achieve, and some of the great stories that came out of it. But suffice it to say that I was extremely pleased with the final design and performance, and inspired by the audience participation and feedback. And despite all my canvassing and performance experience, this style of street theater brought its own belly full of butterflies I was proud to have harnessed. At the time I thought I might be able to bring it back in the spring; that hope remains for this late summer and fall.ImageyesterdayPublic 0 0Monthly Update #15 (July/August 2021)Jul 16, 2022ArticleJul 16, 2022Public 0 0read about the debut hereI had prepared a series of bits, scenes, and rants around themes of liberation, along with a stack of handbills containing media recommendations and organizations to look into around different areas of social justice. The person who stepped up to hand out my fliers, and who was most interested in my calls for revolution, was someone who I'd previously overheard arguing with event staff about how the stage had taken over the square. Navigating that conflict and my own mania was a wild, moving experience and in the end I think everyone left changed a bit for the better. A seriously cathartic and appropriate way to close the month, and a pretty good story.ArticleyesterdayPublic 0 0Monthly Update #14 (June 2021)Feb 22, 2022ArticleFeb 22, 2022Public 0 0
