Immersion has accepted widely the accepted definition of survivorship and considers someone a cancer survivor
from the time of diagnosis through the balance of life.
Who is a Survivor? What is Survivorship? Whether treatment is being received
or has been completed, anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis is a cancer
survivor. Survivorship is the total experience of living
with, through, and beyond cancer.
At a time when our knowledge about cancer and
how to treat it are changing almost faster than we are able to apply the new
knowledge. Now, medical breakthroughs, new technologies, and health care reform
are making it more important for doctors and patients to work as a team. The
new technologies have helped make it easier for both health care providers and
the public to get up to date knowledge about cancer.
Spiritual Community Awareness Team (SCAT)
Immersion (steps) Into The Future by collaborating with healthcare providers, patients, insurance carriers, lawmakers, doctors, caregivers, and friends to provide you a comprehensive team dedicated to your continual survivorship success.
The Spiritual Community Awareness Team develops leadership training for members of the clergy and community-based organizations that is a combination
of tools, “set about developing concrete solutions for the challenges cancer
survivors and their healthcare providers face.”

Life may not come with a map, but everyone will experience
twists and turns, from everyday challenges to traumatic events with more
lasting impact, like the death of a loved one, a life-altering accident, or a
serious illness. Each change affects people differently, bringing a unique flood
of thoughts, strong emotions, and uncertainty. Yet people generally adapt well
over time to life-changing situations and stressful situations—in part thanks
to resilience.
With Immersion "Blue Chair" we define resilience as the process of adapting
well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources
of stress—such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems, or
workplace and financial stressors. As much as resilience involves “bouncing
back” from these difficult experiences, it can also involve profound personal
growth.
While these adverse events, much like rough river waters,
are certainly painful and difficult, they don’t have to determine the outcome
of your life. There are many aspects of your life you can control, modify, and grow
with. That is the role of Immersion resilience. Becoming more resilient not
only helps you get through difficult circumstances; it also empowers you to
grow and even improve your life along the way.
