Cohost (a social media website that existed for two years) got me into writing stuff again, but then it went away, so I made a blog and I post there now. Since you follow this, you might be interested in that!

InFlux Redux is out!Nov 23, 2024 View post There's every chance you know this already since it's been a week, but InFlux Redux is out on Steam (and Epic)! What that is is the remaster (remake, really) of my 11-year-old puzzle game InFlux, which catapulted me to not-on-the-doledom back in 2013. It's already "Very Positive" on Steam (which is when you have over 50 reviews and most of them are positive). In this case, so far all 56 reviews are positive. This, I don't mind tellin' ya, has not affected the Steam store page views at all; I don't think this will make money. Still, what do you care? You give me money every month! I appreciate that.ArticleNov 23, 2024Public 0 0VR Vector Field Painter releasedHey folks! Turfster and I made a VR Vector Field Painter. Full scoops in the video, but it's available on Itch.io. Shares super appreciated, especially if you know a lot of game developers. Even though this is made with UE4, you can use the results with Unity or whatever other software you have that uses vector fields. It got a cool shoutout on the Epic UE4 stream!VideoJul 10, 2017Public 0 2Source Engine-style eyes on UE4May 31, 2017 View post One of the most interesting things I've done lately (with a little help from my friends) is get Half-Life 2 style eyes working in UE4, so go check out this blog post, with extremely hot scoops from Ken Birdwell, the programmer at Valve who handled the majority of the eye/facial stuff on Source when HL2 was in development - this would have been around 2002/2003, but I don't think any other game has really taken this approach to it since. Basically, instead of using moving eyeball spheres/hemispheres, this uses a plane stretched between the eyelids that deforms with the eyelids, and the "eyeball" rotation is all handled in the shader.
