Places like Canfranc - the forgotten, massive border station between Spain and France. For a time, this massive station (complete with 200m long platforms) marked the point where the railways of Spain and France met, in the shadow of the Pyrenees. In that role it saw plenty of history - Franco blocked the tunnels in the Spanish Civil War to prevent aid getting through, and then in WW2 it became a focal point for jews trying to escape Nazi occupied Europe.
