$5/moMasMAS: A mas is a rural farm most commonly found in southern France, particularly Provence. Completely self-sufficient, a mas often produced milk, grain, meat and produce. Animals were housed on the ground floor and bedrooms and food storage were located on the upper floors. Built with inexpensive, locally-sourced clay, stone or wood, the size of the mas was determined by the wealth of its occupants.Thank you so much for joining my Chateau de Borie family! Welcome to the adventure, and thank you for supporting my endeavors. You now have access to the following benefits to thank you for your support:
$10/moChaletCHALET: Chalets are found in the mountains, in many countries, not just France and are popular among skiers. They’re built to withstand intense weather, with gabled roofs and thick, overhanging eaves. They are often wood construction built on stone foundations and these days often outfitted with hot tubs and gourmet kitchens. Orginally though, chalets were built as huts for animal herders along the annual migration routes were havens for herders during the grazing months. Wow! Thank you!!! Your support helps me to continue my renovation and restoration of Chateau de Borie and its grounds and share my progress through my videos.
$20/moBastideBASTIDE: The word “bastide” can be used to describe a property or a fortified medieval town from the 13th or 14th century. Bastide-style homes are square or rectangular stone often with a ground-level archway leading to a veranda, a nod to the archways commonly found in bastide towns. Large and elegant, bastides typically have tiled, almost-flat roofs and stone walls that are either whitewashed or coated with stucco and were often the homes of wealthy farmers.Holy Cow! You're a seriously amazing part of my Chateau de Borie family. Thank you! Your support will help me renovate the caretaker’s house and other cave outbuildings and gardens. You are playing a big part in bringing life back to this Chateau and its unusual landscape... Thanks to your support I can keep filming and sharing my progress with you through my vlogs!!
$50/moMaison de MaitreMAISON DE MAITRE: This “master’s house,” is an elegant mansion set in or near a town or village. Its features include a symmetrical exterior and a practical "four-square" layout with four main rooms on each floor, high ceilings, and fireplaces. It’s also common for a Maison de Maitre to have a large garden. Often the homes of squires or minor landowners, many of them were passed down through the generations. You are an AMAZING and truly generous patron! At this level, you are helping me to dedicate my time not just to the restorations but also to creating compelling retreats for writers, artists and widowed people! Thanks to you I'll be able to complete the restoration dreams faster, hold more retreats and share it all with you in the process!
$100/moChateauCHATEAU: Originally, châteaus functioned as feudal communities; but with the rise of secular prosperity in the 14th century, the restrictive manorial system relaxed, giving rise to the spacious yet still-fortified private residence of the nobility. These compounds, or château-forts, were usually placed on hills in a commanding position above river valleys. Walls were thick, windows were small, and parapets were often crenelated to resist attack. Architectural forms were freely borrowed from medieval bastions. By the 17th century, the need for semi-fortified châteaus had virtually vanished. In their place were built elegant, refined country villas. Source: https://www.britannica.com/ (image: Chateau de Chambord: https://www.bloischambord.co.uk/)I am speechless!! I can't thank you enough for your generous support. At this level, I will contribute 10% of your contribution towards a retreat scholarship fund, in order to allow people who might not otherwise be able to attend one of my retreats.
